Padua Card and other discounts in Veneto

Padua is just one of many cities in the Italian region of Veneto that invites visitors to discover the region’s rich history. Padua is an economic and trade-fair centre and, from a tourism perspective, lives in the shadow of Venice. Yet it is no less popular, and is also an important destination for pilgrimages in Italy. To this day, Padua is also a university city. Young and old alike meet in the city’s many piazzas. It is a city for shopping, strolling, getting to know the place and experiencing it firsthand. It is hardly surprising, then, that Padua is a popular destination for many visitors. There are numerous hotels and holiday apartments in Padua but they should be booked well in advance for the summer.

Anyone currently on a summer holiday in Padua, or planning to visit before October this year, can look forward to an exclusive offer in Padua. Padua has its own Padua Card, usually available from local tourist information offices. The price is reasonable, and the card also offers discounts that visitors can enjoy during a stay in Padua. The Padua Card even grants free admission to some of the city’s attractions. A list of businesses participating in this tourist card in Veneto shows which attractions can be visited free of charge and where discounts might inspire visitors to discover other sights. Those who would rather not get a Padua Card can still look forward to a special offer in Veneto. Until the end of October, the archaeological museums are offering admission for just one euro every Friday. Every Friday during the 2010 season, visitors can explore the archaeological museums in Veneto at length between 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The Museo Nazionale
Atestino in Este is in the province of Padua and is looking forward to welcoming visitors.

Also taking part in this offer—which lets visitors discover a part of Veneto’s history for one euro—are the Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Adria in the town of the same name, on the Adriatic Sea; the Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Altino in Quarto d’Altino; the Museo Archeologico
Nazionale di Fratta Polesine in Fratta Polesine; and the Museo Nazionale Concordiese in Portogruaro.
