Treviso Marathon 2011

In 2011, the Treviso Marathon returns to its original date. The marathon takes place every year on the last weekend in March. This year, it is on 27 March 2011. Only the regional elections the previous year once forced the Treviso Marathon to be moved to another date.

For the eighth year in a row, the Treviso Marathon kicks off the Italian spring and also opens the marathon season in Italy. The organisers hope to set new records in 2011, in particular by once again surpassing the 4,000-participant mark. All long-distance running enthusiasts are welcome to take part. Whether you are a professional athlete, a well-trained runner or an amateur, everyone can participate in this event. An entry fee is charged. Anyone who does not yet have a ticket for the marathon in Treviso can pay the entry fee at the last minute, on site.

The marathon course is considered fast and relatively easy to complete. However, because of its steep descent, its difficulty should not be compared with that of other courses. Runners must overcome an elevation difference of almost 100 km. Treviso is often called the “garden of Venice”. In the spring temperatures, runners can enjoy magnificent panoramas, including the areas around Colle Umberto, San Vendemiano and Conegliano. One highlight is crossing the Ponte della Priula. The route offers views of the Venetian villas in Nervesa della Battaglia. The marathon finishes in the city of Treviso, by the river that shares its name.

The Treviso Marathon is divided into several categories. The main field is, of course, made up of runners. People with disabilities may also take part. In addition, there is a field for inline skaters.

The unique event in Veneto is accompanied by a trade fair for outdoor sports, focusing on running, inline skating and Nordic walking. The exhibition grounds are in Vittorio Veneto, the small town where the Treviso Marathon starts.
