Cadoneghe: Villas, Tennis and Culture
Accommodation in Cadoneghe
Cadoneghe can be explored through several distinct themes: historic villas, cultural offerings, tennis and routes along the Brenta. This mix gives you various starting points for planning your trip. You can focus on preserved interiors and building histories, explore events, or consider specific details about a route and the seasonal tennis offering. The themes differ considerably: some tell the story of a building, while others provide a recurring event date or describe a particular stretch of route.
Area and route along the Brenta
The area of Cadoneghe is part of the Roman centuriation; the Brenta forms its southern boundary. This information combines a historical context for the area with a clearly defined geographical boundary. The river is also part of a specific route description, which differs from general directions for exploring the area.
After reaching the centre of Cadoneghe, the Percorso Tergola leads onto the Brenta embankment. A three-kilometre stretch then follows the left bank to Pontevigodarzere. The sequence and named endpoint are particularly useful when planning the route: the town centre is followed by the river embankment and the path along the left bank. This makes it possible to locate the described stretch without assuming a walking time or difficulty level.
Villas and historic interiors
Villa Da Ponte is on the street of the same name, on the border with Campodarsego. One of its notable interior spaces is a large ballroom, painted by Croatto. Careful restoration returned the villa to its former splendour. The location, ballroom and restoration history each offer a distinct point of interest: its precise street location, the artistic decoration and the renovation of the building.
Villa Mocenigo, a Renaissance villa now called Villa Riello, offers a different perspective. Its original Venetian floors and parts of its former interior decoration have been preserved. Compared with the restored Villa Da Ponte, the focus here is particularly on the preservation of historic details. If you are interested in architectural history, the two villas therefore offer different points of interest: a painted ballroom and restoration in one case, and original floors and parts of the interior decoration in the other.
Villa Augusta in Bagnoli adds another point in time to these building histories. It was originally established as a monastery of the Fathers of San Rocco della Giudecca in Venice and was remodelled in the 18th century. Its history thus differs both from the restoration of Villa Da Ponte and from the preserved interior features of Villa Riello. Considered together, the villas illustrate different aspects of Venetian villa culture, rather than reducing the buildings to a single architectural type.
Culture, events and leisure
The Biblioteca Comunale P. P. Pasolini organises author events, interactive readings for children, readings and exhibitions, as well as concerts, theatre and film screenings. The programme therefore includes both literary events and music and performances. This distinction can help you choose according to your interests: a visit might focus on readings and author events, or on a programme of concerts, theatre, film and exhibitions. The interactive readings are specifically for children.
The Mercatino delle Pulci di Cadoneghe takes place on the second Sunday of every month, with a break in August. Public holidays or calendar changes may affect the specific date. One individual, dated event was Bati Marso on 28 February 2026: that edition featured a participatory route through the town’s streets, with two trains, each with 50 seats. This places a recurring market schedule alongside a specific event date as two different ways of marking the events calendar.
Tennis as a trip in its own right
The Tennis Club Cadoneghe has two clay courts. In summer, they are uncovered; during the colder months, they are covered by a heated air dome. The season therefore determines whether the courts are outdoors or under the air dome. The club also runs tennis introduction courses, as well as individual and group courses for adults and children with FIT-certified and authorised coaches. The offering ranges from introductory courses to different course formats and explicitly caters to both age groups.
