Discover Conselve: historical heritage and local tradition
Accommodation in Conselve
Conselve is suitable for you if you would like to combine historical evidence from different centuries with a clear connection to local tradition. Churches, villas, and palazzi form the most important documented points of reference. The townscape is complemented by the Fiera di Sant’Agostino and its inclusion in the Bagnoli Friularo DOCG production area.
Churches with several historical layers
The present-day Duomo di San Lorenzo, also known as the Duomo di Conselve, was built between 1720 and 1748. It was consecrated by Cardinal Carlo Rezzonico, who later became known as Pope Clement XIII. The building stands on the remains of an old parish church dating from around 900 AD, thereby combining an older ecclesiastical history with its present-day form. Inside is an altarpiece depicting the Martyrdom of Saint Lawrence from the early 17th century. Following restoration, the work was attributed to the school of Tintoretto. The Chiesa di San Giovanni Battista Decollato di Palù represents a different period: it was built in 1574 at the request of Giovanni Lazara and extensively restored in 1647, 1733, and 1968. An accessible entrance on the ground floor is also documented for this building.Villas and palazzi as historical points of reference
Villa Conti-Schiesari was built in the first half of the 16th century by the noble Conti family. Its location is said to be a place where the castle of Conselve, dating from the 11th century, probably stood. The villa was expanded and altered in the 17th century. The institute housed in the villa was active from 1942 to 1970 and is therefore part of its later history. Villa Zane Bellegno probably dates from the mid-16th century. It was built by the Zane family and passed to the Bellegno family in 1630. Palazzo Schiesari Bergonzini dates from the first half of the 17th century. The construction of Palazzo Ferrante Deganello, formerly also known as Michiel, Suman, Moschini, and Buniolo, goes back to the end of the 16th or the beginning of the 17th century, when it was built by the Venetian noble Michiel family. Its interior façade dates from the 16th century and opens onto a large garden. The present-day appearance of Villa Malipiero-Morosini-Cavalli-Cappello dates from the 18th century; today it is called Villa Schiesari. Villa Ca’ Sagredo was built by Giovanni Sagredo from 1660 onward. Originally designed as a hunting lodge, it was later transformed by Piero Sagredo into a stately country residence. The different construction periods and names make these historic buildings particularly suitable if, during your trip, you would like to place not just a single building but also changing eras and family histories in context.Festival and wine connection
For 2026, the Fiera di Sant’Agostino is documented as having reached its 447th edition. Open workshops were offered at the Villaggio Fiera; there was also a food and drink stand operated by the Pro Loco. These details expressly refer to the 2026 edition. As another local connection, Conselve is part of the Bagnoli Friularo DOCG production area. If you would like to expand your selection, you will also find Correzzola, Sant'Urbano, Legnaro, Saccolongo, Montegrotto Terme, Carmignano Di Brenta, Sant'angelo Di Piove Di Sacco and Vigodarzere. For the overarching travel overview: Padua.
