Torreglia combines flat and mountainous areas with sites of historical and natural interest. For planning your trip, this means an unusually diverse choice of places: you can explore Renaissance architecture and church history, follow paths through the landscape, discover local products or observe nature in wetlands and at springs. Several destinations are located in Torreglia itself or in its hamlet of Luvigliano and can therefore be combined into different focal points for your stay.

Historic Sites and Special Collections

In Luvigliano, a hamlet of Torreglia, stands Villa dei Vescovi. The Renaissance villa was designed as a summer residence and meeting place for intellectuals and writers. Today, the complex includes the Vescovi Bistrot and the Enoteca Strada del Vino dei Colli Euganei. Guided tastings can be arranged for individuals and groups. Villa visitors can use the free car park on Via Roberto Ferruzzi, about 350 metres away; buses can park at Piazza Mercato in Torreglia. From Abano Terme railway station, Villa dei Vescovi can be reached by a Linea Colli AT or ATL bus to the “Tito Livio 8” stop in Luvigliano di Torreglia.

The Museo Luxardo opened in 2023 in the industrial complex of Luxardo S.p.A. in Torreglia. The entrance is located directly above the shop at Via Romana 46. The exhibition presents the history of the Luxardo family and company, as well as the production methods for products such as Maraschino Originale and Cherry Sangue Morlacco. The museum thus complements the historic sights with an insight into a specific corporate and product history.

The town’s churches also reflect different periods. The first reliable mention of the Chiesa di San Sabino on Colle della Mira dates from 1212. Its present appearance is typical of the 18th century and is the result of a renovation financed by Jacopo Facciolati, completed in 1765. The Chiesa di San Sabino is open for Sunday Mass at 8:30 a.m. The Chiesa di San Martino houses a painting from 1527 by Girolamo da Santa Croce depicting Saint Martin sharing his cloak with a poor man. The oldest document attesting to this church dates from 1077.

The Chiesa del Sacro Cuore has a single-nave interior in the Romanesque-Gothic style, five altars and wall frescoes by Galliano Migliolaro. It was consecrated on 1 September 1945 and dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus as the modern parish church of Torreglia. Villa Pollini is named after its first prominent owner, the pianist Cesare Pollini (1858–1912).

Trails Through the Euganean Hills

Route No. 30 to Roccolo Bonato begins and ends at the Chiesa di San Sabino. Roccolo Bonato in Torreglia near Valle del Pianzio is evidence of bird trapping, which was still widespread in the Euganean Hills until a few decades ago. This trail therefore combines a specific starting and ending point with a site of cultural and historical interest. Those who want to explore the area by bicycle can use the Anello ciclabile dei Colli Euganei, a circular route for everyone that can be ridden in full or in stages on a road bike. A mountain bike route runs almost entirely through Torreglia towards Villa Immacolata via Monte Pirio. It includes challenging climbs and long, technically difficult descents.

Wetlands, Spring and Watercourse

The Biotopo di San Daniele is home to rare plants and a diverse range of wildlife. These include the European pond turtle (Emys orbicularis L.), the little egret (Egretta garzetta L.), the grey heron (Ardea cinerea L.) and the Eurasian penduline tit (Remiz pendulinus L.). Raised wooden walkways allow visitors to walk over wet areas and observe the vegetation and wildlife at close range.

Fonte Regina is located near Borgo dei Mulini, a spring that has been used since Roman times to supply the aqueducts of the surrounding towns. At Fonte Regina, spring water flows over a remnant of a Roman aqueduct made of trachyte, forming a small waterfall that falls into a stream. Traces of the aqueduct remain in the surrounding forest. The combination of the spring, watercourse and preserved structure makes the site a destination in its own right for its natural and technological history.
