Why Azzano Decimo Is Interesting

Azzano Decimo combines sacred architecture, historical evidence, and natural areas with distinct characteristics. If you would like to explore Veneto independently, you will find both notable buildings in the town and landscapes with paths, short routes, and opportunities for various forms of physical activity. The cultural sites range from an 18th-century parish church to a wayside shrine dating from the late 15th century. This historical profile is complemented by Bosco della Mantova and Laghetti di Cesena, two destinations with different landscape features and documented activities.

Churches, Art and Historical Traces

An important landmark is the parish church of San Pietro in Azzano Decimo. It was built in the second half of the 18th century. The bell tower next to the Chiesa Parrocchiale di San Pietro is 76 metres high. The parish church and the bell tower are separate buildings: the parish church was built in the second half of the 18th century; the figure of 76 metres refers exclusively to the adjacent bell tower.

The Oratorio di Santa Croce preserves 16th-century wall paintings. Alongside the parish church built later, this provides another sacred site with its own historical focus. There is also a wayside shrine on Via Zuiano, created at the end of the 15th century by a follower of Bellunello. The three sites therefore differ in their dates of origin and in their artistic and architectural significance.

Villa Cappellari della Colomba is also one of the notable buildings in Azzano Decimo. It is distinguished by an external staircase leading to the piano nobile, or main floor. In the main town, the Monument to the Fallen of the First World War at Piazza Libertà also commemorates 20th-century history. This gives your exploration a broad spectrum encompassing church architecture, wall paintings, a wayside shrine, a villa, and a public memorial site.

Nature Between Forest and Wetland

Bosco della Mantova is regarded as an oasis of unspoilt nature. Hiking, leisurely walks, and mountain-biking tours are possible there. The forest also contains traces of prehistoric settlements. The site thus combines a nature experience with evidence of early human settlement, although the two aspects do not necessarily form part of the same visiting experience.

Laghetti di Cesena, by contrast, is an ornithological oasis with typical wetland vegetation as well as fish, amphibians, and birds. There are paths and short routes along its shores. Laghetti di Cesena is also particularly popular with sport anglers. In contrast to Bosco della Mantova, the focus here is therefore a wetland with a strong connection to birdlife, other aquatic animals, and fishing.
