Monte Raut shapes the landscape of Val Colvera in the Frisanco area, and the Colvera stream has carved the Bus del Colvera gorge there. Cultural highlights range from the visitor center in Poffabro to Palazzo Pognici; a nature trail, climbing sectors, and a cycling route add to the options for your stay. This lets you balance nature, local history, and outdoor activities according to your interests.

Val Colvera and Rock Formations

The Colvera stream has carved the Bus del Colvera gorge in Val Colvera. In the Frisanco area, Monte Raut shapes the landscape of Val Colvera. The gorge illustrates the landscape formed by the stream, while Monte Raut stands out as a defining feature of the valley.

Landri Scur is a deep cave, while Landri Viert is a very large rock overhang. The difference is in their form: a hollow space versus a broad, projecting rock overhang. This contrast offers a simple way to compare the two geological features.

Culture and History

The visitor center in Poffabro in Frisanco is housed in a former dairy, which opened in 1933. Its four sections focus on the dairy, the park’s mountain huts, the park’s natural features, and Val Colvera. This presents crafts, mountain huts, nature, and the valley as distinct topics.

The “Da li Mans di Carlin” exhibition includes miniature charcoal kilns, mills, barns, blacksmiths’ workshops, dairies, shelters, bird-catching huts, and churches. It features scale models and various objects at a scale of 1:10, depicting historical activities in Val Colvera. At a scale of 1:10, one unit on the model corresponds to ten units on the original, making it easy to understand the reduced representation.

Palazzo Pognici in Frisanco is a 17th-century residence of the Teofoli family. Unlike the activities depicted, the palazzo is a tangible historic landmark associated with a named family and a specific century.

Trails and Activities

The Parco dei Landris nature trail follows the old road to the Marmitte dei Giganti; along this old road, between the two road tunnels, there are several climbing wall sectors within the nature trail. The route description thus provides two different points of reference: a destination on the trail and a section bounded by the tunnels. This helps distinguish the destination from the climbing sectors as separate points of interest.

Cycling route R005 runs between Poffabro and Toppo. As of 2026, it is closed due to construction work until March 24, 2027. The specific deadline is therefore important for cycling plans; the route should not be treated as a currently open connection.

Mountain Cuisine

At Paesi Aperti, visitors can sample typical mountain dishes, including Pitina and Frico. Regional cuisine is thus another distinct travel experience alongside the landscape, history, and activities.
