Pederobba offers travelers a variety of themes: wetlands along the Piave, a long signposted cycling route and buildings with a history of hydraulic engineering and agriculture. There is also a hiking trail that connects the landscape with military history. When choosing where to stay, you can therefore consider the town in terms of the interests you want to shape your trip around.

Wetlands and birdlife

The Settolo basso wetland lies along an old riverbed of the Piave. Watercourses, springs, upwellings and pools shape its landscape. Since 2005, Settolo basso has been a special protection area for birds in the Natura 2000 network. The Oasi Garzaia di Pederobba is surrounded by an area covering 163 hectares. Within it is a six-hectare central woodland where herons nest. The waters of Settolo basso and the woodland with its nesting herons represent different natural attractions in the area around Pederobba.

Cycling and hiking

The Anello ciclabile del Grappa is a 135-kilometer signposted loop route on paved roads. It can start or end in Pederobba. This makes the town a possible starting or finishing point for a cycling trip. The Sentiero delle Trincee sui Colli di Onigo offers a different kind of activity: it is an easy hiking trail through wooded hills west of the municipal seat and south of the Piave. From there, views extend north toward the Piave Valley and Monte Cesen.

The trail passes through military installations from the former second Italian defensive line in the First World War. Landscape and history are therefore directly intertwined in the hike. When choosing an activity, you can consider a 135-kilometer cycling loop on paved roads or an easy hiking trail through wooded hills. These two options offer different points of reference for planning your trip.

Water engineering, villas and local tradition

The Terze Porte of the Canale Brentella is a structure built in Pederobba in 1577 to regulate the Canale Brentella. It is accessible via Via Molini, between the SR 348 Feltrina and the Piave. The structure combines a clearly defined technical purpose with the local history of water regulation.

Villa Calvi di Coenzo Caragiani was originally a farmhouse commissioned in the 17th century by the Venetian merchant family Groppo. It was later converted into a villa. It is an example of 18th-century architecture and features a large portico, a collection of noble carriages and a terrace. Its history thus traces a path from agricultural origins to a villa with distinctive architectural features.

The chestnut also forms part of local history: in 1974, citizens of Pederobba founded the Mostra-mercato dei Marroni del Monfenera. Its aim was to promote the woodland and cultural heritage associated with chestnuts, and in particular the Marrone del Monfenera. Its founding is a historical reference point; it does not automatically mean that the event is held today.

Choosing Pederobba as a destination

The choice between the 135-kilometer cycling loop and the easy hiking trail with its views and military installations stands out most clearly.
