Adria is a quiet small town in the Italian province of Rovigo which belongs to the region of Veneto. It is situated in the Northern part of the Po River Delta and lies between Venice and Ferrara. Adria is the city which is under the protection of the patron of San Bellino and has 20,551 inhabitants. The archaeological museum is especially recommended to see when visiting the town of Adria.
In ancient times of the Etruscans this town was so important that some historians say that the town even gave its name to the Adriatic Sea. Besides, the town is only 15 kilometers away from the sea. The original port city existing since the 2nd century AD became shallow and its importance that was won by the south-located Ravenna also disappeared. Nowadays Ravenna is situated nearly 90 kilometers away from the town of Adria.
But nevertheless this fact couldn’t break the charm of Adria and every visitor can see that Adria is really a lovely place. Here you will find not only the tracks of the Etruscans but you will also have the possibility of visiting neighboring Rovigo and Ferrara. You will even find the gulf of Venice within a stone’s throw from here.
Everyone is able to travel by plane from here and especially Ferrara is rich in many cheap airlines. One more thing is that the accommodation is recommended in one of the numerous holiday apartments (appartamenti vacanze) in and around Adria. Rather favorably and exceedingly informally one can spend a night at the typical small hotels, as for example in "Albergo La Gondola di Rondina Gisella" in Angeli or in a nobler "Molteni" in Ruzzina. Both of them are situated almost in the center. The best way to explore the surroundings is to hire a car, which can be booked beforehand together with the flight.
