Alleghe combines a historically shaped lakeside town with a striking mountain landscape and various ways to experience the surrounding area. Lake Alleghe was formed in 1771 after a landslide dammed the watercourse. Rising above the town, Mount Civetta reaches 3,220 metres and, together with the lake, forms a closely connected landscape unit. Alleghe therefore brings together a clearly recognisable natural setting, local history and a varied range of leisure activities.

Lake and mountain landscape

Lake Alleghe is not only a defining landscape feature, but also a place for a peaceful activity on the water. You can rent pedal boats on Via Lungolago; a trip on the lake takes approximately one hour. Those who would like to experience the landscape from a different perspective can reach high-altitude viewpoints from the centre of Alleghe by cable car.

The surrounding area also reveals a variety of landscape features. Lake Coldai is a lake of glacial origin. From Masarè, a short detour along a path leads to the Ru de Rialt waterfalls. These destinations add further bodies of water and a waterfall setting to the view of Lake Alleghe, without losing sight of Alleghe’s local character.

History and local culture

The formation of the lake is closely linked to the town’s history. In the centre of Alleghe stands the church dedicated to Saint Blaise, which was largely rebuilt after the 1771 landslide. Alleghe’s tourism tradition dates back to the 19th century. Those interested not only in the landscape and activities but also in the development of the town will therefore find specific historical points of reference here.

For orientation on site, the IAT Alleghe provides tourist information and reservation services, as well as selling tickets for public transport and the ski bus. This makes the local information point relevant even when you want to combine different options for your activities or getting around.

Hiking, mountain biking and family experiences

The hiking options range from easy walking paths in the valley and hikes at higher altitudes to challenging via ferrata routes. This allows you to adapt the level of difficulty to your preferred way of exploring the area, without limiting Alleghe to just one type of mountain experience.

Mountain biking also offers different areas of focus: Alleghe has mountain bike routes for the whole family as well as trails for experienced mountain bikers. Children can visit the Kids Bike Park, a learning area where they can practise handling mountain bikes.

The Civetta Adventure Park is located in the forest of Piani di Pezzè. Four courses with different difficulty levels lead across wooden walkways, tree trunks, Tibetan bridges and vines. Ally Farm Summer is also located in Piani di Pezzè and is a nature park in the heart of the Dolomites. There, a family course follows a route that ends in a panoramic area. Within the destination, these offerings provide a distinct focus alongside hiking, lake excursions and mountain lifts.
