Pescul is a clear starting point for winter sports and trails through the mountain landscape. The lifts in Val Fiorentina start in the Pescul district. Two four-seater chairlifts from Pescul provide access to the Ski Civetta ski area, directly connecting the village with a wide range of winter sports activities.

Skiing and winter trails

The Ski Civetta ski area comprises 80 km of slopes. Among them are two slopes illuminated for night skiing; there are also slopes for skiers of all ability levels. Those looking for another winter route can set off from Pescul towards Monte Fertazza. The ski tour begins at the lifts in Pescul and follows trail no. 569 through the winter forest.

The connection to other places in Val Fiorentina is also part of getting oriented locally. The Val Fiorentina ski bus connects Pescul, Santa Fosca, Selva di Cadore and Fedare at Passo Giau. This allows Pescul to be viewed in its regional context, without presenting the village as the sole starting point for the surrounding area.

Hiking routes through varied landscapes

The route from Pescul to Cima Fertazza leads across pastureland and panoramic sections. Along the way, views open up over Val Fiorentina, Monte Civetta and Pelmo. Another route connects Pescul with Rifugio Aquileia: it runs past mountain streams and pastureland with freely grazing animals and leads through a picnic area before opening up to views of Monte Pelmo.

For a shorter outing, the easy hike from Pescul to Rifugio Aquileia is described as taking about one hour. The two chairlifts departing from Pescul are also equipped to transport bicycles. They can reduce the elevation gain on the ascent to Cima Fertazza and thus connect the mountain route with an option for cyclists.

Orientation at Cima Fertazza

Ristoro Belvedere is located at Cima Fertazza. From Pescul, it can be reached by chairlift or on foot via various trails. For more than forty years, Michela and her family have welcomed hikers, skiers, snowshoers and e-bike riders there in summer and winter. The Ristoro thus provides another concrete reference point connecting the trails with the various activities around Pescul.

Tradition and regional discoveries

In addition to its trails and lifts, Pescul is also associated with a traditional event. During the Mascorada, Matazìgn and Re del Bosc, who according to tradition come from Forcella Forada, arrive in Pescul by horse-drawn sleigh before the Mascorada begins.

For a museum visit in the surrounding area, the Museo Vittorino Cazzetta in Selva di Cadore is a good option. The finds discovered in Mondeval are exhibited there. This allows a stay in Pescul to be combined with a regional cultural stop, without equating the different places and their respective contents.
