Stienta combines several clearly distinct travel experiences: you can discover historic buildings and religious art, plan riding lessons or horseback excursions, and connect your visit to the town with a documented cycling route. A local culinary tradition is also part of the municipality’s character.

To Stienta by Bicycle

A special way to arrive is offered by a panoramic road on the embankment of the Po River. It can be used by bicycle to reach Stienta.

Stienta is also located on the 48-kilometre Green Tour Stage 05 from Occhiobello to Ostiglia, specifically at kilometre 3.7. This information places the town within the stage: the 48 kilometres refer to the total length of the stage, while 3.7 kilometres marks Stienta’s position along the route. Cyclists therefore have two different reference points for orientation: the panoramic road on the embankment and the Green Tour stage.

Villas, Churches and Religious Art

Villa Camerini Bertelè was built around the middle of the 18th century. The three-storey complex has two side towers and follows the design principles of Emilian-Estense military architecture. The villa is therefore an independent historic attraction alongside Stienta’s churches.

The Church of Santo Stefano Papa e Martire was built between 1791 and 1799 on the site of three earlier churches. Its history of furnishings also includes the only surviving evidence of frescoes by the Bolognese painter Antonio Maria Nardi. The frescoes were created in 1933 and largely destroyed during the Second World War. Those interested in architectural history and surviving works of art will therefore find both the history of the present church building’s creation and a clearly documented, partially lost cycle of frescoes here.

The Church of San Genesio was rebuilt and enlarged in 1670 on the orders of the Abbot of Pomposa. This should be distinguished from the Oratorio di San Genesio, located in the village of San Genasio. The oratory preserves a miraculous image of the Virgin Mary that has been venerated for centuries.

Horse Riding and Local Specialities

Centro Equestre Cristina organises riding lessons and horseback excursions. Alongside its historic attractions, Stienta therefore also offers an explicitly horse-related activity.

In September, Stienta hosts a gastronomic Palio. Another local speciality is Pinza alla Munara. This is a rustic bread made from flour, water, salt and oil that originates from the local tradition. The dough is prepared in layers with olive oil; the bread is served warm with cured meats. Pinza alla Munara therefore provides a specific culinary connection to the local tradition, while the Palio marks a separate gastronomic event held in September.

For further orientation, you can also visit Porto Viro, Badia Polesine, Castelnovo Bariano, Bosaro, Ceregnano, Occhiobello, Castelguglielmo Rovigo and Loreo.
