Breganze combines historic routes, villa landscapes, ecclesiastical buildings and a strong wine tradition. During your stay, you can combine a variety of experiences: walking tours lead through the streets, past historic buildings or to a former workshop, while cycling routes and wine trails connect the town with its surrounding hills and the Venetian plain.

Walking Tours through the Town, Hills and Craft History

The Centro e Ville walking tour leads through the streets of Breganze and past the church, the Campanile, villas and dovecotes. The Collina Santo Stefano walking tour focuses on something different. It leads to the church of Santo Stefano through historic villas and atmospheric paths amid greenery and vineyards.

The Opifici route begins in the town center and follows the historic Via Castelletto to the Antica Officina Radin museum. Along the way, it passes workshops, former production sites and villas. Here, therefore, the focus is not only on architecture but also on the town's former craft-based character.

Crafts in Preserved Workshops

The Antica Officina Radin is a museum of local crafts. It preserves the characteristic structure of craft workshops that operated between the 1920s and the period after the Second World War. Restored machines and functioning equipment have been preserved.

The Museo del Maglio di Breganze displays fully preserved, functioning machines powered exclusively by water. Practical demonstrations include forging red-hot iron and sharpening tools on a water-powered grindstone. The Maglio Tamiello is also a rare testament to Vicenza's proto-industry in the 16th century.

Churches and the View from the Campanile

The Campanile of Breganze is 90 meters high and offers a 360-degree view of the surrounding landscape. On weekends, as well as on religious holidays and during major events, bell concerts are held there.

The churches also represent different historical periods. The church of San Valentino dates from 1646 and contains frescoes by the Mattielli as well as a Baroque altar made of Vicenza stone. The Chiesetta di Santo Stefano has Benedictine origins and now displays formally Neo-Gothic features. Breganze Cathedral dates back to the 13th century and houses seven altars dedicated to saints, as well as an altar dedicated to the Virgin Mary. The parish church was already dedicated to Santa Maria toward the end of the 13th century and housed the tomb of the Pagello family.

Villas, Parks and Dovecotes

The manor villas of Breganze stand on hills and are surrounded by extensive parklands. A particularly concrete example is Villa Monza-Savardo, a 17th-century villa with a manor chapel and a dovecote. It is surrounded by a centuries-old park with rows of old vines.

The numerous dovecotes of Breganze were not built until after the middle of the 15th century, during the Venetian period.

Wine from the Pedemontana

The Breganze DOC designation is among the first DOC designations recognized in Veneto and honors both indigenous and international grape varieties. In the Pedemontana, Vespaiolo is considered the area's symbolic grape variety. This aromatic white grape produces Torcolato, a passito wine made from grapes that are naturally dried until January.

Historic wineries such as Beato Bartolomeo, Col Dovigo and Firmino Miotti offer tastings among scenic vineyards. The Strada del Torcolato connects wineries along a route through well-tended rows of vines, with views stretching from the Pre-Alps to the Venetian plain. When visiting the wineries in the Pedemontana, you can follow the production process from vineyard to bottle.

Cycling through the Surrounding Area

A cycling route from Breganze through Mirabella and Maragnole follows small country roads and returns to Breganze via a new cycle path.

For further travel planning, you can also view Mure, Pedemonte, Cismon del Grappa, Castana, Mirabella, Canove di Roana, Lastebasse and Marostica.
