Ponte Di Barbarano combines Neo-Romanesque church architecture, historic villas, the production of Grana Padano, the history of the Bisatto Canal and a seasonal nativity scene.

A Church and Villas with Their Own History

The Chiesa del Sacro Cuore di Gesù was built between 1923 and 1926 in the Neo-Romanesque style. Its ecclesiastical development belongs to a later period: in 1942, the church became the seat of a newly established parish. The construction period, architectural style and ecclesiastical function can therefore be viewed as distinct chapters in the history of the area.

Another historical landmark is Villa Sangiantofetti-Pedrina-Rigon. It was created in the 17th century by remodeling and extending a manor house owned by the Traverso family. The villa complex includes the manor house, the garden, the barchessa, the dovecote and an oratory dedicated to the Redeemer. The latter was built between 1665 and 1685 by the Venetian nobleman Francesco Molin. The complex thus brings together several building sections and a history of development that can be traced through different construction phases.

Villa Bogoni is also one of the documented historic buildings of Ponte Di Barbarano; it was built in the second half of the 18th century. Villa Meggiolaro is located on the Riviera Berica near Villa Bogoni in Ponte Di Barbarano and dates from the mid-17th century. This gives your choice of destination a historical focus in which different periods can be understood side by side, without reducing the villas to a single building history.

Grana Padano and Local Products

The Caseificio Sociale Ponte di Barbarano is also part of the local identity. Since 1922, it has been associated with the Consorzio per la Tutela del Formaggio Grana Padano DOP. In its adjoining factory shop, the dairy sells Grana Padano directly, aged for 24 or 30 months. These two aging periods represent a specific distinction in terms of taste and production within the range.

A suitable opportunity to get to know the cheese and other products is the Caseificio Aperto event. It takes place on the last Sunday in October and includes tastings of cheese and typical local products. If you would like to plan your stay around a culinary event, this fixed date is the relevant reference point.

Canal History and Seasonal Features

The Bisatto Canal near Ponte Di Barbarano is also historically documented as the Fiume di Barbarano, Fiume della Riviera and Fiume Navigabile.

A clearly time-limited attraction is the mechanical nativity scene of Ponte Di Barbarano. It is displayed every year from December 25 to the first Sunday in February. It thus complements the year-round architectural and local-history attractions with a recurring winter feature that has a clearly defined exhibition period.
