Tresché Conca: History, Hiking Trails and Winter Activities
Accommodation in Tresché Conca
Tresché Conca brings together historic sites from the First World War, eight hiking trails, an educational farm and a winter conveyor belt. When choosing a hotel in town, you can decide whether history, hiking, farming traditions or winter activities should shape your stay. The offerings focus on different things and help you plan your trip around your interests and the time of year.
Historic Trails and Forte Corbin
Two trails lead from the church in Treschè Conca to Forte Corbin: CAI Route 804 passes through Contrada Ostarelli, Contrada Dosso and Contrada Mosca. Forte Corbin can also be reached from the church via a five-kilometre paved road. The route through the contrade and the road connection differ in their course.
The Forte di Punta Corbin Military History Museum preserves numerous relics from the First World War, including the fort’s original keys, a fragment of the original dome and many soldiers’ belongings. Forte Corbin was restored and converted into a museum by its owners.
The Forte Corbin–Monte Cengio commemorative trail offers another focus on history. It follows the chronology of events from 1915 to 1916 and runs mostly along military roads and mule tracks built before and during the First World War. The dates have different roles: 1915 to 1916 refers to the chronology of events, while the trails were created before and during the war.
Hiking and Nature
The Treschè Conca trail map features eight marked hiking trails, organised by difficulty level and walking time. Both criteria help guide your choice: you can consider the level of challenge and the time you want to allow. On the Narciso trail, stone slabs border grassy sections of the path. In Cimbrian, the slabs are called “Laste” or “Stoan Platten”; both names refer directly to this feature of the trail landscape. Deer can also be spotted in Treschè Conca.
Farming Traditions and Winter Activities
Il Cason delle Meraviglie adds farming activities to the historical and landscape themes. The educational farm is located in a renovated malga dating from the early 20th century. The “Un giorno da contadino” workshop includes hand-milking and making cheese and butter the traditional way. The focus is therefore on practical work and traditional food production.
In winter, Treschè Conca offers the “tappeto magico,” a conveyor belt suitable even for small children, just a few metres from the town centre. It allows visitors to enjoy downhill runs on sleds and bobsleds, as well as their first attempts at skiing. There are several winter activities to choose from, from sledding to trying skis for the first time.
Getting Your Bearings on Arrival
If you travel from Vicenza via the Statale del “Costo” to the Asiago Plateau, Treschè Conca is the first village you reach. The church is also a landmark for finding your way around: both CAI Route 804 and the paved road to Forte Corbin start there. This helps you factor your arrival and the different routes to the fort into your plans.
